AIB Hub Activities

The AIB Hub is the IT platform we operate connecting the national GO registries of our members for transfers of guarantees of origin. It is currently undergoing a major transformation after 13 years. Since 2012, the number of transfers has increased nearly 20 times, making this renewal essential to ensure continued efficiency and reliability.

Currently the AIB is switching to a completely new solution of the Hub, including a complete technological revamp. We are moving from a monolithic Hub platform to a modular architecture: the data management processes (reporting, statistics, VAT fraud checks, etc.) and the actual GO transfer platform are rebuilt as separate modules.

Also, we have introduced an option to start using a new message protocol (AMQP instead of SOAP) and file format (JSON instead of XML), which will avoid transfer congestions when adapted by all members, and we moved to the latest Java technology. The new AIB Hub is operated by Unicorn Systems.

Graph shwoing the number of transfers through the AIB Hub since 2012.

What is Changing?

  • We are moving from a monolithic Hub platform to a modular architecture, separating data management (reporting, VAT fraud checks, etc.) from the actual GO transfer processes.
  • We are introducing an option to start using a new message protocol (AMQP instead of SOAP) and file format (JSON instead of XML), which brings multiple technological benefits and will make the process of transferring GOs more efficient and resilient. AIB members will gradually introduce these changes into their national GO registries over the next 1-2 years.
  • The new Hub will be running on the latest Java technology, ensuring long-term sustainability and security.

Key Dates

7-13 April 2025: Cutover Week

  • Outage of the Hub. No new inter-registry transfers can be initiated during this week. Members must inform their account holders about this planned outage.
  • Transfers still open on 7 April must be completed by 8 April 16:00. Any unfinished transfers will be considered failed (NAK).
  • Members must finish and double check their registries configurations, user profiles, and connection settings for the new Hub production environment.

14 April 2025: Go-Live

  • The new Hub goes live step by step, with members rejoining the system one by one, according to an agreed time schedule.
  • If there are issues with any registry, transfers to and from this registry will be temporarily blocked, and troubleshooting will follow.

14 April – 23 May 2025: Stabilisation Period

  • AIB will provide intensive support to ensure a smooth transition.
  • No major system changes will be introduced until the end of May, except for necessary hotfixes.

The AIB Secretariat will actively communicate updates to all stakeholders through its newsletter, website and LinkedIn profile.

Make sure to always check the national GO registry on which you have an account!

AIB members can visit the Hub page in our member area.
